European Commission launched consultation on the review of the European Disability Strategy

23 December 2015

Yesterday, the European Commission launched the online public consultation on the mid-term review of the European Disability Strategy 2010-2020. This consultation will be open until Friday 18 March 2016.

This Strategy provides a roadmap for the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD), to which the European Union is a party.

It has identified 8 main areas for action at EU level:

  • accessibility
  • participation
  • equality
  • employment
  • education and training
  • social protection
  • health
  • external action

Citizens, organisations, public authorities, businesses, academics and other stakeholders are invited to respond to the consultation sharing their views on:

  • What has been achieved so far in each of these areas?
  • What are the challenges faced by all persons with disabilities?
  • How the EU should address these challenges?

Find the announcement of the consultation on the European Commission’s website including a video in English with sign language and subtitles

The consultation is available on the European Commission’s website in all EU official languages except Irish
