Letter to MEP Bogusław Liberadzki: Delivery of petition – 60.000 people call of equal access to trains

To: MEP Bogusław Liberadzki, Parlement européen, Bât. ALTIERO SPINELLI1 3G342,60, rue Wiertz / Wiertzstraat 60 B-1047 Bruxelles/Brussel

Dear Mr. Liberadzki,

60.000 people signed the petition “Train travel for all!” calling on you to ensure that the upcoming revised Rail Passenger Right’s Regulation guarantees better assistance for persons with disabilities and reduced mobility during train travel and abolishes the need for pre-notification.

Pre-notification for assistant and lack of accessibility of train stations is clear, systemic discrimination against persons with disabilities. The European Union has an obligation to correct this as a State Party to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

The European Parliament has the most ambitious position in this regard. Furthermore, your role as lead negotiator for the European Parliament means you are the most direct representative of EU citizens in these negotiations.

We therefore call on you, on behalf of the signatories of the petition, to ensure the need for pre-notification is abolished;

Yours sincerely
