8 November: Public seminar on the involvement of persons with disabilities by political parties

8 November 2017

The Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), the Disability intergroup of the European Parliament and EDF co-organise a public seminar on the involvement of persons with disabilities by political parties. The event is hosted by the Member of the European Parliament (MEP), Helga Stevens.

The seminar will serve as a platform to raise awareness about the under-representation of persons with disabilities in political life, including in different political party structures. The discussions will aim to identify the potential steps and initiatives which could facilitate such participation and create more inclusive political parties in Europe.

The event will gather participants with diverse expertise, including members of political parties, parliamentarians, politicians with disabilities, representatives of political party support organisations, disabled people’s organisations, and representatives of other international organisations. It will take place at the European Parliament (Brussels) in room PHS 1A002 from 9.30 to 13.30 and will be followed by a lunch. If you plan to attend the event, please kindly confirm your interest to Ms. Anete Erdmane, ODIHR Associate Democratic Governance Officer at: + 48 723 960 021, or at e-mail at anete.erdmane@odihr.pl
