  • LOCATION: Social Hall, 4 West 43rd Street, New York, NY 10036, United States

UN Women National Committee Australia and Blur Projects International are holding a parallel event co-hosted by the European Disability Forum and Oxfam International.

The panel of experts include Ana Pelaez (EDF Vice President and President of EDF Women's Committee, and others from the international disability community who have taken part in the Silent Tears Project. They will lead a discussion on the violence perpetrated globally against disabled women and girls.

Universally, women and girls with disabilities experience many barriers and discriminations impacting their daily lives. They are more likely to experience violence, and in rural areas, this is compounded by geographical and social isolation.

The panellists have experience of disability and violence either professionally or personally. Together, they create a ‘borderless’ conversation to identify and discuss courses of action to facilitate change for disabled rural women and girls impacted by violence.
