Honoring Erasmus father Domenico Lenarduzzi

It is with great sorrow that we learned of the death of Domenico Lenarduzzi, ex-Director General for Education at the European Commission and considered by many the “father” of the ERASMUS programme.

As person with disabilities himself, Domenico paid special attention to the mobility of students with disabilities.

Albert Prévos, our Executive Committee Member said;

I remember someone with immense human qualities, a visionary who was rightly convinced that in order to build Europe we must first give people, especially young people, the opportunity and means to meet each other. Through his energy, tenacity and foresight, Domenico Lenarduzzi has been the driving force behind the great European success that is ERASMUS.
