Galway, Ireland,
8 November 2019

Last week our Vice-President Pat Clarke and new colleague Aoife Price participated in a European-wide training event at the National University of Ireland, Galway as part of the DARE project (Disability Advocacy and Research in Europe).

The DARE project is a follow up to the DREAM project, and is a European-wide training network for early-stage researchers in the field of disability rights. The programme has 15 researchers who are being supervised and mentored by leaders in the field. The project has received funding from the European Commission’s Marie Curie Programme.

Pat and Aoife

EDF is part of the project and Aoife is one of the early stage researchers employed at their office in Brussels. She will be with us for the next three years, researching the rights of women with disabilities and looking at the interaction between the disability and the women’s movement.

In Ireland, Pat Clarke and Aoife Price took part in the week long event which included a public conference discussing the social impact of research, training for the early stage researchers as well as time for peer and supervision support. The next training event will take place in February 2020 in Lisbon, Portugal.
