11th session of the Conference of States Parties to the CRPD

The 11th session of the Conference of States Parties to the CRPD takes place in 12-14 June in New York.

The Conference will, as every year, take stock of the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The theme is “Leaving no one behind through the full implementation of the CRPD”

On June 11th the Civil Society Forum takes place, at the UN headquarters in New York. Applications are now open for side events ,with a May 4th deadline. It is also possible to register online to participate. Some member states support the participation of Disabled Persons Organisations at the Conference.

Active participation at the Conference can include:

  • Attending all the plenary sessions, including this year observing the elections to the CRPD committee
  • Attending a range of side events
  • Running side events
  • Short Civil Society Organisation’s speeches from the floor (coordinated last year by International Disability Alliance- EDF works closely with them on this)

With a very high level of participation from many stakeholders, it is an intensive networking opportunity.
