10 July: High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development

 
On Monday, the High Level Political Forum (HLPF) will start at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York for two weeks. EDF will be present.
 

The HLPF

 
 
 
The HLPF is the preeminent space within the UN to work on sustainable development. It is the home of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and was established to bring together governments, companies and civil society to monitor and review the goals.
The theme of this year´s High Level Political Forum is “Eradicating poverty and promoting prosperity in a changing world” and will focus on evaluating implementation efforts for the following SDGs:
 
  • Goal 1. End poverty
  • Goal 2. End hunger
  • Goal 3. Ensure good health and well-being
  • Goal 5. Achieve gender equality
  • Goal 9. Improve infrastructure, industrialization and innovation
  • Goal 14. Conserve oceans, seas and marine resources
  • Goal 17: Build partnerships for goal delivery
These efforts will be evaluated in 44 countries, including 10 European Member States with the presentation of the Voluntary National Reviews:

EDF side-event

The Stakeholder Group of Persons with Disabilities in collaboration with the European Disability Forum, African Disability Forum, and Disabled People's Organisations Denmark (DPOD) will hold a side event on 13 July from 1:15 to 2:45 pm within the United Nations (conference room 5). The title of the side event is “Sharing national experiences of persons with disabilities regarding multiple and cross-cutting discrimination as core issues contributing to poverty.” The following presenters will engage in an active discussion along Member States (countries to be confirmed):
